Our footprint

Sustainability is a big focus for the team at Poppy Rose.
We believe we can do our part to reduce the impact our existence has on our planet.
Read on to find out more about what we’re doing to improve our sustainability.

We dispose of our waste thoughtfully.

We believe that it’s our responsibility to reduce the amount of waste that we create every day. We choose to seperate our green waste, soft plastics, cardboard and general recycling – minimising what goes to landfill. Any flowers that don’t make it into a bouquet are sent to our provider to be turned into a range of composted products.

We only buy what we need, reducing waste.

We shop at the local markets daily and only buy what we need, reducing our need for waste from the very beginning. We try and buy from local growers where possible – reducing emissions and supporting our Australian farms.

We choose to use eco-friendly packaging

We do our best to use recyclable, reusable or biodegradable packaging where possible. All of our flowers are wrapped in a white Kraft paper which is provided by a local business. Our water bags are made from BOPP cello which can be recycled with your soft plastics. Our bouquets are tied off using a natural twine and we only use cardboard boxes and paper bags to package other items for delivery.

Our power is as green as it gets

Our power provider is owned by a 100% renewable energy company who own and manage hydro-plants and wind farms in New South Wales, Victoria and South Australia.
They also offset all of the energy used by their customers by planting trees and other green initiatives around the world.

When you buy a plant from us, we’ll plant a tree from you.

We’ve partnered up with the legends over at One Tree Planted. From April 2021, we’ll plant a tree for every plant sold in our retail and online stores. Head over to their website to learn more about what the organisation does.

What are we working on next?

We’re always looking for ways that we can give back and further build on our journey to be greener. Our next project is to work with a Carbon Offset Provider to make our deliveries carbon neutral. We’re pretty excited!
